Gombe State to Host New Cinematography Centre in Partnership with Nigerian Film Corporation

The Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has pledged his administration’s full support for a major creative industry development — the establishment of a Cinematography Centre in the state by the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC).
During a courtesy visit to the Government House, discussions between the Governor and the MD of the NFC Ali Nuhu were described as warm, engaging, and forward-looking. The proposed Cinematography Centre is envisioned as a hub for creativity, innovation, and professional filmmaking, offering modern facilities to nurture local talent and expand the state’s cultural footprint.
Beyond infrastructure, the talks explored avenues for skill acquisition and youth training programmes designed to equip aspiring creatives with the knowledge and tools to thrive in the film and media industries. Plans were also discussed for a strategic partnership between the Nigerian Film Institute (NFI) and Gombe State University to strengthen academic-industry linkages, creating clear pathways for students to transition into professional film and media careers.
Speaking after the meeting, it was expressed with confidence that these initiatives will not only energize Gombe State’s creative economy but also contribute to broader growth in Nigeria’s film sector.
